BICC Lobengula Men’s Fellowship is a group of Christian men that gather together to develop support and uplift each other in faith and life in general. The local Men’s Fellowship also subscribes to the District and National Church Men’s Fellowship.
1. Develop, support and uplift each other as men in the church.
2. Spread the word to other men who need revival, evangelism and salvation.
3. Groom complete young men and equip them with all the wisdom and life skills to manhood.
4. Fellowship through sport activities, business workshops and life skills seminars.
We managed to establish the Fellowship Through Sport Initiative that has been impactful in creating a good and necessary bond between the young men and fathers in church. Two teams Amathayima, (constituted by mostly married and elderly men) and Amajimbos (the Youth team) have been created and continue to interact through soccer. This is an initiative that promotes not only physical health but is an opportunity for young men to receive mentorship from the fathers. Besides playing soccer amongst each other, men use this initiative to also reach out to unbelievers. A number of men and boys have been drawn to Christ through soccer and thus fulfilling the Great Commission.
Men’s Fellowship also facilitates premarital counselling sessions for the groom to be. In these sessions, the groom-to-be is coached on a number of issues he should expect when he marries his wife. This platform helps the young man become ready for marriage and become equipped for what is to be required of him when he is joined together in holy matrimony.
Regular meetings are arranged on a monthly basis where men come together and fellowship. There has been no activities in terms of gathering in recent past months due to the COVID-19 pandemic that restricts gathering. One way that the men’s fellowship has adopted as a way of reaching out to men is through soccer. Regular matches are arranged where men come together and fellowship through playing soccer after which the gospel is shared. Several men have been won to Christ and this vision has been sold to the District and is working well in enhancing fellowship and growth amongst men.
The ongoing pandemic restricts physical interaction hence limited fellowship activities. We believe God restoration of sanity and fellowship. Most men aren't very active on social networks hence making it a challenge to conduct formal virtual fellowship. However, spontaneous discussions are conducted on the WhatsApp Group Inkundla Yamadoda. (Men’s Platform). On this platform man share and discuss with each other various topical issues that affect them in their families and walk of faith. We note with sadness that a number of our key members succumbed to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The advent of COVID-19 has not stopped us from looking ahead as we believe that the Lord will see us through this challenging phase. We look forward to returning to worshipping and fellowshipping together as this is instrumental in our growth and strengthening each other in faith. The following are some of the plans we have set out to pursue;
- To encourage more men into the fellowship as the restrictions ease to allow for fellowship.
- To have a major revival and thanksgiving event to thank God for seeing us through the tough unpredictable times.
- To follow up on families of our departed members and pray with them.
- Encourage men to partake more in church activities and take initiative in projects.
The scripture says in Proverbs 19:21, “There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the LORD’s counsel-that will stand” NKJV. We commit these plans unto the Lord trusting that he will strengthen us as we work together to achieve them.
Many thanks go to our brother in the Lord Mr. Thamu Ndlovu in the UK, who has been supporting the Fellowship Through Sport Initiative over the past years by donating kits for the football team. Above all, we give thanks to our God who leads us in triumphal procession.
